The Villa
Tucked into the peaceful hills above Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villa Augflor is a family home distinguished by its uniquely designed Mediterranean garden — a curated landscape of jasmine, bougainvillea, fruit trees, and fragrant Provençal planting that transforms every outdoor hour into something special.
The architecture and interiors carry the same distinctive eye: thoughtfully styled bedrooms, a luminous open-plan living area, and terraces oriented for morning coffee, afternoon sunbathing, and starlit dinners alike.

Location & distances
Cagnes-sur-Mer sits at the geographic heart of the Côte d'Azur — quietly residential, yet within striking distance of every iconic destination on the coast. This is not a compromise location.
Area guide
Everything Lana recommends — from the best boulangerie 2 minutes away to the most dramatic canyon in Europe. Updated each season.
The medieval hilltop village on the other side of our hill is beyond imagination — cinematographic, calm, classified as a historical site since 1948. Narrow pebbled streets cool even in summer heat, thousands of flowers, and a Renaissance château with panoramic views over sea and mountains. Take a glass of cold wine at the square café and simply exist. Use the free navette shuttle (bus 44 from Square Bourdet) to avoid parking.
On the hill next to the villa, this 15th-century walled village is one of the great "must-see" destinations of the entire region. Art galleries, boutiques, hidden cafés, flowers everywhere. The Fondation Maeght modern art museum — with Miró's labyrinth and Giacometti in the courtyard — is world-class. Arrive early in summer.
A city of extraordinary layers — the Baroque Vieux-Nice, the Promenade des Anglais, the Cours Saleya flower market, the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Founded by the Greeks (originally "Nike" — victory), it has been Italian, French, and everything in between. The spirit of Nice is unlike any other French city. The Cours Saleya morning market is essential at least once.
A tiny city-state famed for glamour, the Casino, the Prince's Palace (once home to Princess Grace), and some of the most prestigious events in the world — the Formula One Grand Prix, the Yacht Show, Monte Carlo Rally. Monte Carlo district is drenched in sun, money, and extraordinary Mediterranean views.
Perched at 427 metres above the sea, Èze is the most vertiginous village on the Riviera. The Jardin Exotique at the summit has the best panoramic view on the entire coast. Visit midmorning before the tour groups arrive. Combine with a coastal drive along the Grande Corniche.
The walled old town, the Picasso Museum inside a real medieval castle, the extraordinary Saturday Provençal market, and the best bouillabaisse on the coast. Juan-les-Pins, attached to Antibes, has a legendary jazz festival each July. The superyacht port is a spectacle on its own terms.
Long sandy beach right in the village. Relaxed, local, with good seafood restaurants on the waterfront. Ideal for families — calm water and gentle entry. Best for a lazy half-day followed by lunch at La Pesquière.
One of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the Riviera — clear shallow water, less crowded than Nice or Cannes, and a genuinely local atmosphere. Napoleon landed here on his return from Elba.
Rocky coves and crystal-clear water around the cape. Take the Sentier du Littoral coastal walking path for hidden swimming spots away from the crowds. One of the most scenic walks on the entire Côte d'Azur.
Antibes' most celebrated beach — shallow, sandy, sheltered. Beach clubs with loungers or a public section for BYO towel. Consistently beautiful water.
The famous pebble beach of Nice along the Promenade des Anglais. Best early morning or sunset. Combine with a walk through Vieux-Nice and the Cours Saleya market.
A beautiful small pebble cove accessible only by coastal path. One of the Riviera's true secrets. Pack a picnic, wear shoes you can walk in, and allow an hour to reach it.
Closest: Patisserie des Travails, 19 Chemin des Travails (walk 12 min / car 2 min), open 06:30–19:30. Lana's favourite: Bour Pâtisserie Boulangerie Traiteur, 94 Avenue des Alpes (car 8 min), open 06:15–20:00 daily. Exceptional croissants and pastries.
Several excellent small restaurants are nestled in the medieval village directly above the villa. Lana keeps a curated, up-to-date list with booking tips — just ask on arrival. The setting alone at these restaurants — candlelit medieval lanes — is worth the short drive.
The best morning market on the Riviera. Local cheese, olives, socca, charcuterie, flowers, and lavender. Essential at least once. Arrive around 9am with an empty bag and no fixed plan.
Nice's legendary flower and food market. Try fresh socca (Niçoise chickpea pancake) from a street stall for breakfast. One of the most atmospheric markets in France.
Beloved local fish restaurant right on the beach. Book ahead. Order the dorade grillée and a bottle of local Bellet white wine. One of the best casual lunches near the villa.
Provence produces the world's finest rosé. Château Minuty and Château Saint-Maur are both within an hour. Wine tastings can be arranged through Lana, including at estates not open to general public.
One of Europe's great modern art museums — a Miró labyrinth, Giacometti sculptures in the courtyard, Calder mobiles, and world-class exhibitions all summer. Budget a minimum of two hours.
Antibes is the superyacht capital of the world. Sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and boat hire all available from the port. Lana can arrange half-day boat rentals and sailing lessons.
Spectacular limestone gorges in the Alpes-Maritimes hinterland — refreshingly cool even in August. Combine with a visit to the village of Gourdon perched at the top. A perfect escape from coastal heat.
One of the world's great jazz festivals, held every July in Parc Phoenix. Outdoor concerts under the stars with Nice as the backdrop. Book tickets well in advance.
Hire road or e-bikes and follow the coastal cycle path towards Nice or Antibes. The velodrome circuit at Cros-de-Cagnes is good for families. Lana can organise bike hire delivery to the villa.
Several excellent tennis clubs and golf courses nearby. Lana can arrange court time and tee times including at private clubs near Mougins and Biot. The climate means outdoor courts are playable from March through October.
Take the ferry from Cannes to Île Sainte-Honorat — a monastic island with extraordinary vineyards and deserted rocky coastline. Île Sainte-Marguerite has the cell where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned. Pack a picnic and spend the day.
The world capital of perfume since the 17th century. Visit Fragonard or Galimard for a perfume creation workshop — one of the best activities for all ages on the Riviera. Surrounding lavender and mimosa fields are extraordinary.
Tourettes-sur-Loup is known for its violet festival and artisan craft shops. Gourdon, perched on a cliff 760 metres above the sea, has the most breathtaking views of the entire arrière-pays. Both can be combined in a half-day loop.
The prettiest town on the Riviera, at the Italian frontier. Famous for lemons, Baroque churches, and the Ventimiglia market just across the border on Fridays. Excellent for an authentic half-day excursion away from the tourist trail.
The most dramatic landscape in southern France — turquoise water, 700-metre limestone cliffs, and a canyon stretching 25 kilometres. Kayaking, rock climbing, or simply the most dramatic drive imaginable. A full-day adventure worth planning.
The Chapelle du Rosaire, designed by Henri Matisse in his final years, is a masterwork of light, ceramic, and stained glass. Quieter and more authentic than Saint-Paul. Local Tuesday market. One of the essential cultural stops of the region.
Leclerc — 344 Chemin des Moulières, La Colle-sur-Loup. Open 08:30–20:30, Sunday 09:00–13:00 (walk 20 min / car 8 min). Also has the cheapest fuel station in the area.
Casino Supermarché — Avenue des Alpes. Open 06:00–midnight (walk 17 min / car 5 min). Very convenient for evening top-ups.
LIDL — 66 Avenue de Verdun. Open 08:30–20:00 (walk 17 min / car 5 min).
Polygone Riviera — 119 Avenue des Alpes. Open 10:00–20:00 (car 4 min). Large shopping centre with Zara, H&M, Apple Store, restaurants, and a good supermarket. The closest major retail destination to the villa.
Patisserie des Travails, 19 Chemin des Travails — 2 min by car, 12 min walk. Open 06:30–19:30.
Bour Pâtisserie Boulangerie, 94 Ave des Alpes — 8 min by car. Open 06:15–20:00 daily. Lana's personal favourite for croissants.
Free shuttle bus (navette gratuite, line 44) from Square Bourdet town centre runs every 20 minutes daily to Haut-de-Cagnes — avoids parking entirely.
Cheapest fuel: Leclerc station, La Colle-sur-Loup.
Pharmacy: Several in the town centre, open standard French hours. Nearest urgent care at Hôpital de Cagnes-sur-Mer.
